Feeling Better and Ready For The Weekend

What a week!  I don't like being sick, but I'm feeling much better now, certainly better than being sick on the weekend don't you think?  Can't wait for the weekend to start!

Yesterday I treated myself to a few spa services, one new one in particular that I LOVE, shellac polish!!! Ever tried it?  It's a combination of gel and polish and stays on for weeks.  When I was a single gal I always had my nails done.  As long as I can afford it it, I think I need to start treating my self  to pretty nails on a regular basis!  I may even use it as a tool for weight loss, "I'm not treating myself to birthday cake, but I will get a rockin' mani."  Not to mention my manicurist is so cute & fun, she makes me feel young again.

I never realized how much thyroid function affects healthy nails, because after a thyroidectomy my nails had deep ridges.  Medicine can't replace an organ! Even pretty nails, as superficial as that sounds, made my day, making me feel happy and pretty all over.  I think my reasoning with my husband may sound something like this, "see how much happier I am now.  And just think it's really not costing any extra because we're saving money at the grocery store not buying so much junk food."  Think that it'll work?

The color is a dark gray & my skin tone is not red. Didn't photograph well.
Tell me:

Do you find non-food related treats help with weight loss?
Do you have a favorite fall nail polish?

Have a great Friday everyone!  Yea for the weekend.

  1. I LOVE your nails-and I hear the shellac technique is amazing-I totally support you in self-care! Your reasoning sounds good, sometimes our men are so happy to see us happy-they don't need much convincing :)

...I'm a massage therapist, so that's a favorite of mine. I see how therapeutic massage creates a 'body-awareness', and that awareness has the potential of helping us in many areas of our lives-including healthy weight loss.

    Have a great weekend Cat-

  2. Hi Cat. I get the gen manicure regularly. I get a good 10 -12 days out of it. I was getting the OPI version called axxium, but last three I have gotten the shellac version. I love the dark color. I ususally stick to light pink, but in the winter I have ventured over to the dark side! My husband doesn't get the whole manicure thing, but he knows it makes me happy, so he always encourages me to go. There are very few things you can change instantly, and nails are one of those things. Weight loss isn't instant, but a good manicure is! Enjoy the weekend. Hugs from me to you!

PS Dry nails, hair and skin are part of my thyroid problems. Things are alittle better with the right medication dosage, but my hair is definitely not as soft and silky as it used to be.

  3. Hi Cat, I agree how something like doing your nails makes us feel prettier and better. I don't have mine done any more since that stupid girl ruined my thumb w/a horrible infection. My thumb has never recovered yet. But I do them my self and its fun.
    Have a great day :-)

  4. LOVE the nails. I'm just getting ready to leave to get a pedicure and I've been debating the gel polish for my fingers. I really want to get it, but I've been telling myself not to spend the money. I will get it done eventually, though. I have thyroid probs, too and you are right about it messing with the nails. My nails peel and the only thing that works is keeping them short and using Nailtiques 2. That somewhat keeps them from peeling. Anyhow, I'm babbling again! Have a great weekend looking all cute and sassy! :)

  5. I still haven't gotten that done. I'm afraid that once I started, I'd have to keep doing it. I can't commit. But yours looks so pretty! Have a great weekend!

  6. I use to get my nails done all the time but after we moved into a house and I had to do some yard work no more pretty nails. I suffer from thyroid disease and psoriasis so no wonder my nails look so bad, I am gonna give this product a try. I love your nails.
